GemellArte is proposed
Why Gemellarte
Because someone had to do it.
GemellArte project is directed to share art and their artistic heritage between Italy and France, relaunching the twinnings that already link the two countries through different cities. Within the logic of “free movement” at the base of European values, that today more than ever it is necessary to preserve and recover. With art that is proposed and “used” as a tool of connection and sharing and to open and overcome geographical and mental boundaries.
GemellArte is proposed as an independent project, aimed at the civic and cultural awakening of our cities and citizens, with particular regard to the provincial towns, where the cultural offer is often limited and the opportunities for emerging artists are too restricted. The “zero” edition of the project, by virtue of its independence and spontaneity, is organized thanks to the commitment of Gn Media and the contribution of public and private subjects, to whom it is proposed to support the initiative.
Why this name?
Because we want to put art at the basis of cooperation between Member States. And not only.
Art as an instrument of civic, cultural and tourist relaunch. Taking into account the possible developments that the project can allow, promote and develop.
Therefore, the aim of GemellArte is to establish an exchange of artists between different countries, through the instrument of the artistic stay, with a series of exhibitions of visual arts (and not only) shared between Italy and France. Starting from the cities already linked to each other by a formally recognized institutional twinning, then arriving, to the establishment of new twinnings between cities not yet linked to each other.
The purpose of this artistic and cultural project is multiple. On the one hand there is the clear desire to stimulate the local art scene, by hosting and contributing to an international initiative. With the particular value (and further purpose) of being able to enhance emerging artists, by proposing them across the border, in addition to stimulate their creativity by promoting liaisons between artists from different countries and cultural contaminations, that have always been fundamental in the art world and beyond. On the other hand, there is the further objective of wanting to revive those twinnings already existing between the different cities of the world, too often static or even forgotten, while offering easy opportunities for internationalization. For a civic, as well as artistic and cultura committment.
On the other hand, the project also aims to further enhance the local artistic heritage, proposing not only young and emerging artists but also organizing exhibitions of artists from the past, that are not yet known beyond the borders, if not indeed remained within the citizens or regional ones.
